Yesterday I began to list a number of goals I have for this year and especially the next several months. My great desire is that such a recounting of my goals will inspire me, and not just me. I could just as easily have written these goals for my personal-private consumption. I wrote instead a blog for as many people as I can attract to read these goals and be inspired for themselves. I have also written to be held accountable by others but also by my conscious and subconscious minds.
The greatest way to convince your subconscious that you are serious to change behavior or accomplish a goal is to write it down and make it public. At that point you have encouraged others to judge you on your words. If you say or write no words then you risk nothing. That sounds safe. However, if you risk nothing you also gain nothing.
My hope is that yesterday’s post and that of today will be encouraging to you for the setting of vision and defining of goals. You don’t need to send those goals out on the internet just sharing them with one or two other friends can be a large help in the fulfillment of those goals.
So back to my goals for 2013. I want to focus a bit more on personal goals at this point. I will memorize at least one Scripture verse each week. I will also memorize one important historical work each month. The first will be the Gettysburg Address, followed by the Preamble to the US Constitution.
I will also schedule personal meals at least once a month with each family member. I will be in contact by phone or email with my brothers at least monthly. We will determine a visit to at least one brother in the next year.
I will use FaceTime and Skype on a regular basis for personal and business needs. I will empower my children to make decisions and live with the outcome of those choices. Andrew and I will go camping again with other dads and sons.
After I finish with the Third book in the series I will move onto either a fiction series or “My Life As…” series. I will always be writing some book!
I will look for inspiration in everything I do and everything that happens that includes things that are unpleasant and things which turn out differently than I would like. I will write about this inspiration so others can share in the inspiration I have received and found. I will write about deep things and also about seemingly insignificant things to show myself and my audience that inspiration comes from any direction and in truth is a continual decision.
I will use new skills to share insights more effectively with as many people as possible. I will also use those skills to make as much money as possible to help as many people as possible.
The most important goal of all is to glorify God and truly enjoy Hm this year. All other goals spring from this goal. All other goals also have their completion in this goal.
May this post help you determine goals for your life this year and then take you from goals to inspiration.
Blessings be upon you all!
